Have you suffered an injury as a result of criminal activity?

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) deal with compensation claims from those who have been physically or mentally injured because they were the victim of a crime.

We can assist you with your application to the CICA. We can also advise as to the merits of a review or appeal against an application that has been refused or where the level of compensation for criminal injury is to be challenged. We have dealt with many cases under the CICA scheme, including those arising from physical, mental or sexual abuse as well as cases involving substantial levels of compensation for both injuries and psychological trauma.

The majority of criminal injury cases and CICA claims that our expert personal injury solicitors deal with are funded under no win no fee agreements which means if your claim for compensation is unsuccessful, then you won’t need to pay for anything. Our team will work closely with you at a pace you are comfortable with to ensure you are at complete ease throughout the entire claims process

You can try to claim compensation on your own if you wish to do so. However, having legal representation can really make a difference as making a claim can be a complicated process. Our expert team of personal injury solicitors can assist you with gathering all of the evidence and submit the claim on your behalf together with appealing any decisions you don’t agree with.

I have been sexually assaulted - do I have the right to anonymity?

If you have been a victim of a sexual assault, then you have the legal right for anonymity. This means that the media are not allowed to publish any details about the offence or case that might identify who you are. However, you are entitled to waive your anonymity if you wish to do so.

What is the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme?

The majority of criminal injury cases and accident claims we deal with are on a no win no fee basis. This means that there is no financial risk when you pursue a compensation claim. You will only need to pay anything if you are successful with your claim with the legal costs coming out of your settlement agreement money.

Will I need to attend court?

The majority of criminal injury compensation claims are resolved without the need to attend court. However, there are some cases that need to go to court, but our expert criminal injury solicitors can support you throughout the entire process.

Will criminal proceedings affect my compensation claim?

Our entire team encourage anyone who has suffered from a criminal injury to report it to the police. Criminal proceedings are separate from criminal injury compensation claims, but the outcome of criminal proceedings that’s related to your case might be relevant.
