We are looking to recruit a Legal Assistant to join our Private Client department, based at our Chillingstone House office in Rayleigh.
The is a full-time and permanent position. Previous experience working within a Private Client department is essential.
Salary and associated benefits will be discussed during the interview process.
The ideal candidate will have a logical and organised approach to their work, be fully proficient in MS Office (particularly Outlook, Word and Excel), and possess strong attention to detail.
They should be capable of working independently with minimal supervision, remain calm under pressure, and demonstrate excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Reliability, self-motivation, and the ability to use their own initiative are essential.
This role would suit an experienced Private Client secretary, preferably with probate experience who is looking for greater autonomy, or someone currently working within a Private Client department in a non-secretarial capacity, as well as those with a paralegal background.
Experience using the LEAP case management system would be beneficial, though not essential.
Please find below a description of some general duties, the list is not exhaustive but is meant to describe the regular work you will be required to conduct.
•To work under your own initiative having day to day conduct and administration of Wills and probate cases, including telephone and written correspondence with clients, beneficiaries, professional organisations and government agencies
•Preparation of attendance notes and letters with the supervision of the fee earning staff
•Drafting legal documents, including Wills and probate applications
•Managing your own caseload and diary maintenance, including setting and monitoring diary notes and the critical dates diary
•Dealing with the administration processes for monies either payable to or received from clients, suppliers and any other relevant organisations or individuals
