‘Salt Bae’ is being sued for infringement of copyright for using another artist’s artwork of him. It is a common misconception that people can freely use artwork or a photograph of them, because it is them in the image. However, it is the taker of the photograph/the artist that owns the copyright in that image and the model/subject requires the photographer or artist’s licence/permission to use it. Models should think twice before they simply re-post or use an image, even if it is of their own face.
